Web Site Design
We provide the hosting, but what about site design?
Web
site design is typically done on your computer using
web creation software. Most software packages of this
type provide a WYSIWYG (What You See is What You
Get) editor to lay out your web pages.
A popular program for designing
web pages is Microsoft
Frontpage. Frontpage provides
many templates to get you started. If you have used
other Microsoft Office products, you will feel right
at home in Frontpage.
When you
are ready to unveil your site, Frontpage provides
a simple publish feature that takes care of all the
details of moving your content to our servers. If you
are using Frontpage to create your site, be sure to
turn on Frontpage Extensions in your control panel
(or drop us a line and we will do it for you).
For those on a tight budget, you might want to take
a look at the free NVu.
Another software package used by professional web
designers is called Macromedia
Dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver has many sophisticated features, and there
is a bit of learning curve before you become productive
using this software. Dreamweaver uses FTP to move your
finished product to our servers.
If designing web pages is not your thing, there are
a number of folks out there who do this for a living,
and who will give discounts to churches and ministries.
